I am sure your library has something similar. Ask the staff next time you are in. Public libraries almost always have a way for their customers to give input on what the library should buy. In my library's case, they have quite a healthy book and materials budget so if the item is available they will more likely buy it than get it through inter-library loan and also, most libraries restrict getting new books through inter-library loan. I think there is an 18 month waiting period before you can request an item via ILL - that is, it has to have been published at least 18 months ago. So check into that. You can request that they buy "After Words!" Tell them it's about a librarian! :)Rosy Brewerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17156447894512749413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6146286857215408059.post-42881083838276526942015-10-24T12:36:54.360-07:002015-10-24T12:36:54.360-07:00Oh and...Montalbano may be an acquired taste...so ...Oh and...Montalbano may be an acquired taste...so give it a couple of episodes. I have watched and re-watched it for so long I can't remember if I was immediately taken with it.

sazzyUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11889893961539319711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6146286857215408059.post-45517295932942480672015-10-24T12:35:19.315-07:002015-10-24T12:35:19.315-07:00You still have the power to get your library to or...You still have the power to get your library to order something? That's a super power! I will look forward to your analysis of Frank Riva. Pay attention to his old love in the series. French women age so gracefully.

sazzyUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11889893961539319711noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6146286857215408059.post-88221234725684559932015-10-24T12:05:18.741-07:002015-10-24T12:05:18.741-07:00My library has all of the Montalbano series so I h...My library has all of the Montalbano series so I have a hold on the first three episodes and I have put them to work to order the Frank Riva, so thanks again for the recommendations.Rosy Brewerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17156447894512749413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6146286857215408059.post-79608989422464505952015-10-24T11:58:49.013-07:002015-10-24T11:58:49.013-07:00I am glad you have had such great library experien...I am glad you have had such great library experiences. That tickles ME! Unfortunately in "the old days," the library profession attracted many people who wanted to hide out there and customer service was not a priority. Likewise, many of those people were women with the characteristics I described, hence "the stereotype." It has changed quite a bit but as my daughter (who is also a librarian) reminds me, just go to any library conference and you still see remnants of "the old days." I will definitely check out your recommendations. Thanks for reading and for your comments.Rosy Brewerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17156447894512749413noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6146286857215408059.post-81043869112175112712015-10-24T11:47:17.412-07:002015-10-24T11:47:17.412-07:00I'm tickled by the librarian stereotypes you m...I'm tickled by the librarian stereotypes you mention. I have never yet run into a librarian like that and I am a SERIOUS library patron. The library is my happy place...always has been. One thing that is a stereotype and true is how helpful librarians are.

I am a sucker for a good movie romance so it's added to THE LIST.

About Alain Delon...I used to think he was too pretty so not necessarily a fan then. If you saw pics of him recently you can see how much he has aged (like all of us). I did however catch a recent tv series he stars in called "Frank Riva" and had to rethink why I never liked him before. This series was on MHZ International Mysteries which is a PBS station in Virginia. If it replays on MHZ watch it. He still has that something that draws the ladies. MHZ can be streamed if you can't get it on your local tv stations.

And while I am talking about international mysteries try and see any of the Detective Montalbano episodes. They repeat on MHZ and are hugely popular here. It's about a Sicilian detective....lots of crime drama with laughs thrown in. It may also be at your library.

sazzyUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11889893961539319711noreply@blogger.com
